What is Replen?

Replen

Replen is short for replenishable inventory. It’s a form of retail arbitrage (RA) where you buy products off retail shelves (and/or online stores) and sell it on a marketplace, such as Amazon or eBay, for a profit. Unlike other forms of RA, you don’t need to scour the clearance aisle or shift through thrift stores to find items that are significantly cheaper than MSRP. In fact, you are buying items at full price.

With FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon), they will do all the storing, packing, and Prime shipping for you at a cost of about 40%-50% of the sales price. FBM (Fulfillment By Merchant) is where you ship it yourself (think eBay) and costs 15% of the sales price. However, you pay for shipping which can be costly in itself and slower than Prime.

Who Pays more than retail?

There are a few reason why shoppers aren’t on Amazon to find the lowest price:

  • Items aren’t available in all parts of the country
    • Along with Canada and Mexico, which Amazon will ship to
  • Customers get their items in 2 days or less with Prime shipping
  • 30 day return policy (longer during the holidays)
  • Top notch customer service from Amazon

Versus Private Labelling (PL)

Unlike PL, replen is much less costly and risky. Here’s why:

  • There’s no need to source from overseas (China)
    • No sourcing agent
    • No scammers
    • No ripoff artists
    • No 3PL
    • No freight shipping / customs
    • No tariffs
  • There’s no PPC (pay per click) involved
  • There’s no fierce competition
